3rd Annual Mom's Day Cabaret


Supportive Housing for Young Mothers (SHYM) now a program of the YWCA Halifax, is hosting its 3rd Annual Mom’s Day Cabaret & Silent Auction, a fundraiser benefiting young mothers and their babies, on May 12, 2012, at NSCC’s Waterfront Campus theatre in Dartmouth, NS.

Join our Master of Ceremonies, Mary-Colin Chisholm, along with a talented line-up of performers for a moving evening of entertainment, complimented by a silent auction with amazing gifts for mom.

When: Saturday, May 12, 2012

Time: 7pm – 9:30pm (doors open at 6pm)

Location: NSCC’s Waterfront Campus Theatre, 80 Mawiomi Place, Dartmouth, NS

Please note that only cash and cheques can be accepted at the Mom’s Day Cabaret. A cash bar will be available.

SHYM is a unique housing initiative providing new mothers and their babies with family-based programming in a safe, encouraging environment.

Raising The Roof!


Youth homelessness is a national crisis – an estimated 65,000 young people across Canada do not have a place to call home.

Your toque purchase funds real-life solutions. Over the past 15 years toque sales have enabled Raising the Roof to grant close to $3.3 million to support the work of 145 community agencies serving the homeless in 70 communities across Canada.

Both SHYM and the Halifax YWCA are recipients of this year’s Raising the Roof campaign. If you would like to purchase a toque from SHYM, please contact us. Your $10 will help put a cap on youth homelessness!

A Rock-A-Thon in support of SHYM!


Thanks to Emma Cruddas for a fantastic fundraiser on Jan.7! Emma and her rockers raised over $1600 for SHYM along with lots of diapers and baby wipes. We are very appreciative to Emma and everyone else who participated or donated. Emma, you rock!
